Pain Relief in Valor

Valor's @Herbalis stretches across the country. Those members wishing to increase thier rank in the guild do so by increasing the world's knowledge of herb lore and effects through years of reaseach as part of the Mastery process. Due to the wide usage of herbs in medicine, many Master-hopeful guild members focus on the treatmeant of Valor's citizens. Pain relief and pain management is a popular topic [See works by Master First Dew Harvest Hillside or Journeyman Dallenlie Tallmill].   The following is a list of herbs that have been approved, or in the process of being approved, for use in pain relief in potions, tonics, poltuices, or raw consumption. Please be advised as these drugs are easy to be misused. It's recommended to read Master First Dew's Guide to Substance Limits to avoid adverse affects to yourself or your patient.

Olrelia

Olrelia sugar (also called Life-Giver's tears or healer's balm) is a grainy, slightly sticky substance derived from the primary veins of the Olrelia (medicinal plant) leaf. It is remarkably effective at curing pain of any kind, tastes fresh and slightly sweet, and induces a mild euphoria.

Valerian

Growing on the banks of rivers, Valerian has a calming effect and is often used as a sedative. The planet itself doesn't have an attractive order, though it is very popular with tom cats who have been known to seek it out.

Yarrow

Also known as Knight's Milfoil, Yarrow is a common plant for treating wounds and grows in most parts of Valor. However, chewing it has also been noted to produce minor pain relief and it's roots may produce a stimulating effect.

Rhodiola

Found at high altitudes, Rhodiola is freqently used by knights to aid in the sickness caused by the high-altitudes found at the Camp at Altenis and during prolonged flights. However, it has also been used recreationally for years (primarily around cities near mountains, such as Anchor Falls) to help with stress and its potential treatment for anxiety is currently being investigated.

Chickweed

Known for it's ability to not only treat cold symtops, but also provide the taker with an energy kick, Chickweed is sometimes called "magic weed" in rural areas. Those who frequently take it for the energy boost are often called "brownweeders" after the plant's side effect as a laxative.
