Anchor Falls

Anchor Falls is the largest city in western Valor and a major agricultural hub. Just south of the city is probably the best farmland on the continent; to the north is Undin Shrine, a massive dam. The road from Anchor Falls to Albion is easy, safe, and well-traveled.

Demographics

Anchor Falls has a particularly diverse population, including plenty of dogfolk, goblins, and fauns, though they live in mostly segregated neighborhoods and generally shop in different markets except for major fair days.

Architecture

Anchor falls is known for its wide, wooden streets, designed for carts and wagons to travel smoothly. Most houses and other buildings are single-story, and built of wood, though adjoining stone porch-kitchens are quite popular. Poor and even middle-class homes generally have dirt floors; in fact, among those classes, a finished floor is seen as a completely foolish expense and a matter of putting on airs.

Geography

Anchor Falls is built primarily on a bluff over a bend in the Anchor River, and surrounded by a low but sturdy stone wall. There are additional neighborhoods on the lower areas outside of the wall, and even a smattering of houses across the river that count themselves as part of the town as well.

Everything South is low-lying farmland. Land along the river is especially valuable, providing the best yield for the least work. Everything North of the city is foothills, rising quickly to the western mountains. That area is more mixed-use; much is used for grazing sheep or other livestock, with gardens and smaller plots of land surrounding lone houses or small villages.

Well-established roads lead from Anchor Falls lead either to Albion or south through rural Valor.
