Covenant of Thorns

The origins of this order are somewhat mysterious, with most rumors suggesting a cult, or radicalized group of druids. In truth, it's origins have been lost, as the name of this cult spread like wildfire, with many around the world claiming membership and creating new circles. It appears these circles act separately, with the aim to assassinate, sabotage, and otherwise disrupt the ever growing industrialization of the world. With the growth of technology, the capabilities of production have increased, leading to an increase in the demand of raw materials. The prospect of coin to be made has lead many to disregard the sanctity of nature in their search for profit. This recurring theme of destruction and disregard of nature in favor of industry has had a negative effect on many communities. World spanning guilds bank-roll mining and resource harvesting, creating a flurry of foreign interest that evaporates as soon as the resources are gone. This has devastated many small communities, and disrupted ecosystems, leaving behind marginalized people primed for radicalization.
The longer these practices have gone on, the more people have joined the Covenant's cause. The Covenant now has cells worldwide, though their organization is certainly most concentrated within Corenthia, who are perhaps the nation most responsible for this boom of industrialism.
