Aethershards are Esperite stones that are cut and faceted, then enhanced by further magics to maximize their ability to intake, store, and release Aether. Aethershards do not require attunement, but can be attuned to. Once attuned to an Aethershard, you are attuned to all Aethershards worn or wielded by you. Aether is measured using the energy unit "Vimm" (abv 'Vm'). Vimm Flux (abv 'VmFx') is used to denote the amount of Vimms that an Aethershard is capable of outputting within the span of 6 seconds (or 1 round of combat). Only a creature that is attuned to Aethershards can use the Vimm Flux functionality of an Aethershard, otherwise the process of storing or removing Aether from a shard requires at least 1 minute of concentration whilst wielding or wearing it. The Vimm Flux functionality allows energy from the Aethershard to be used to power spells, abilities, and technologies that require an action, bonus action, reaction, or less to utilize.
