Giants
A.K.A "Jodin"
"What can be seen as the true origins of civilization are the giants. They built an empire which is, even today, unrivaled by any. Their advanced enchanting techniques were unquestionably more powerful than anything seen since. Their knowledge of the world, or at least the remnants which have been found, have driven the lesser races forward by decades, if not centuries. They are succeeded most closely by the khaxen and the jotnar , but all have benefitted from their existence." - Perd Gingglik, Gnome Author in The History of Invention
Basic Information
Anatomy
While appearing fairly humanoid, the similarities between giants and the other creatures of Vallonde is minimal. These towering creatures tower at easily over 30ft if they're young and well over 150ft if they're older. They have strange features and are vaguely... abstract.
Growth Rate & Stages
The early stages of a giants life is very similar to that of a humans, but just on a slightly larger scale. The children grow to be the size of goliaths within only a year or two. From there they never cease growing or maturing. Their intelligence grows in proportion, but they usually become more distant from the other mortal races as this process continues.
Ecology and Habitats
Due to their extremely hardy biology, these creatures are able to live in just about any environment. In fact, many giants which live in a particular environment may develop adaptations to survive better in those conditions. E.g. a giant dwelling in the oceans may develop some mechanism for breathing underwater.
Additional Information
Average Intelligence
Younger giants have an intellect rivaling that of a toddler, but as they grow older their intelligence increases. By the time they reach a truly giant size (75ft), they are capable of thought on par with great scholars.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Giants have a keen sense for magic and divine energies, although it's not well understood as to how or why they can sense these things as well as they do.
Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms
Sprites tend to take a liking to these behemoths and follow them everywhere. Some of the larger giants also have a small ecosystem based around their bodies.
Civilization and Culture
