Blood Lilly/Lillies
Blood Lillies are classified as an extremely dangerous plant. While not technically a poisonous, their seeds are often treated as such. The seeds are small, thin, needle like things that easily slip beneath the skin and into the cardiovascular system. Once inside the body of a creature, the seeds will make their way to the heart and root themselves 2-3 days. After 2-3 days, the seeds will rapidly grow throughout the victims veins and arteries before bursting out of their body in a gruesome and spectacular fashion. It is infamously hard to find someone who uses the seeds for Murder due to the time gap between administration, death and the varying time it takes for the seeds to sprout.
The Lillies naturally produce a blood red nectar that pools in great amounts inside the flower, this nectar sometimes spills out.
The Lillies grow to fill the size of their host.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Petals of a Blood Lily resemble the common lily, though with red petals that are bespeckled with black and yellow styles and stigmas. There are 6 petals surrounding single bud.
The Stems of a Blood Lily plant are long and twisting, often curling inwards on themselves. The Stems are smooth and a dark green in colour. Many, many stems comprise the entirety of the plant, weaving throughout the veins and arteries of it's host.
The Seeds are comprised of 2 layers: A thin, needle like inner layer & a large, sail like outer layer. Each plant produces only 7 seeds.
Genetics and Reproduction
Blood Lily's procreate by self polination and germination before dropping it's seeds, which are initially carried away by the wind before they loose their outermost coating and fall to the floor.
The seeds can lay in the floor for upwards of 2 weeks before they expire. If at some point before the death of the seeds, some unfortunate creature steps on the seeds, they become the next plant's host. 2-3 days later, the host will rapidly expire due to the growth of a new plant. This new plant will use the host as fertiliser for 3-4 weeks before germinating. After germination, the plants expire.
Ecology and Habitats
This Plant Originates from The Gnarled Wilds.
In it's native habitat, this plant is relatively rare but a contant factor and one of the many reasons to wear boots in the Wilds.
