Olav Farwalker
Olav Farwalker is a mage of the Lodge Eldritch, Fifth Circle. He is pompous, arrogant, and loves to brandish the power and reputation of the Lodge Eldritch when dealing with others. He is a middle-aged human man who wears robes of dark purple and a shoulder piece adorned with humanoid (possibly elven) rib bones which serve as his Lodge Bone Talisman.
The Storm Eaters briefly met Olav in the fishing village of Draugr's Run, where he was tasked to discover what happened to his missing predecessor Einar the Windy, who was investigating Coldlight Fjord. The companions initially struck a deal to explore Coldlight Fjord and then travel on to the Lodge Eldritch together with Olav, but the mage was suddenly summoned back to the Lodge. He hurried off alone in the middle of a rainy night, losing no time in returning for whatever the Lodge urgently needed.
The Storm Eaters again encountered Olav when he was tasked by the Lodge to take them across the Throat in his small longship The Impertinent Serpent on their mission to slay the dragon Scalding Rain. Olav proved a capable sailor and useful in a fight. He struck a kinship with Ottar as the two intellectuals bantered constantly on all manner of minutia. Olav revealed his life goal is to become the Master of the Fifth Circle, and he plans to achieve this goal by creating a grand magical artifact he calls the Exposition Map, a talking magical map that tells you the history and culture of any area you are located in. Olav is also infatuated with Janicka, as his kink is apparently being roughed up and humiliated by strong women. Janicka was less than interested.
The Storm Eaters enountered Olav a third time as they quested to reach Valdryssil. Olav was part of a expedition by the Lodge Eldritch to secure a God Gash in the great tree which had stalled due to the horde of wormborn already about the God Gash. When the Storm Eaters revealed they were no longer allies of the Lodge, Olav was torn between duty to his masters and the respect he had for the Storm Eaters. Ottar easily convinced him that greatness and immortality awaited him if he abandoned the Lodge and joined the Storm Eaters.
After the Storm Eaters ended the third wyrmborn plague, Olav found himself branded as a traitor and heretic by the Lodge Eldritch, rather than the great, immortal hero he thought he would be. After helping his friend Svagnir with a personal request, Olav was last seen seeking refuge with the Sed Hellen enclave in the Elvish Gardens to escape the attention of the Lodge Eldritch. No doubt with his grand magical prowess and staggering intellect, Olav will find the greatness he is destined for, regardless of the Lodge's persecution.
