Janicka Fierstead and Eiüin

A cautious, poised, and sharp-tongued young Vaettir woman from the far northern Nuin Hills. She moves with a cervine, yet deadly grace. She hides strange scar-like markings on the palms of her hands with wrappings. She has revealed to her companions that the scars on her hands were caused by Valdryssil itself, burned into her flesh during a Vaettir coming-of-age ritual. The scars are runes of some sort, which are ancient and primal. She has been tasked by her clan elders to find the meaning of these scars and what the great Tree wants of her. So far, the only person able to read any of the runes was Skordal Skullbearer, who claimed two of the many runes translated into "god" and "killer".   She wields strange weapons not seen in the lands of men, such as a Yklwa blade and a javelin-launching Atlatl.   Her appearance changed drastically one night in the village of Molde, with her hair and complexion becoming pale, snow owl feather sprouting from the corner of her eyes, her hair, and on other parts of her body, and her eyes turning to a vibrant orange shade. Because of her unique appearance, Aela Bloodkraken has dubbed Janicka as "Beast Sister". Janicka acquired another title when Olav Farwalker named her "Giant Slayer" after she killed a Thursir at Goat Eye Pointe.   Janicka is an Eater of Worms, with eyes that glint silver in the dark and blood as black as oil. She knows the secret ritual to make new Eaters.   Janicka's face was terribly mutilated during a fight with a pack of Ogn Trolls, when a wicked slice of an axe carved away a portion of the left side of her face. Svagnir healed this terrible open wound over time using the power of Ghostfalls, and the gaping wound has closed to a wicked scar which constantly weeps just a hint of water.   Janicka's closest friend is the giant Ibex goat, Eiüin, and the two share a close bond rarely seen between beast and humanoid. On rare occasions Eiüin has exhibited strange behavior for a goat, as if she is trying to understand or remember something. A few of the most notable occasions were at an ancient shrine to Eika in the Ytre Woods, when in the presence of a mighty storm led by a swarm of Odr Orn, and when she collapsed when Kradar died birthing to a strange magical hammer. The tip of one of the giant Ibex's horns was broken off by the warlock Vintior Bluehand, which Janicka recovered upon his death.   Aboard the dragonship The Darkness, sailing from Hafrsted to Thaneshall, Eiuin was slain by a cloud of poisonous gas summoned by Galdur, the Pale Man of Tork and former Druid of Ghostfalls. When Eiuin died her goat body transformed into her true form: Eika, goddess of the wilds and the beasts. Eika had been tricked by Keitel, the god of lies, into the goat form and had forgotten who she was over many, many years. Once her memory returned in her true form, Eika told Janicka that she was drawn to her because Janicka was the Seed Bearer. If the goddess spoke true, Valdryssil perpetually chooses one of its leaf-touched children, the Vaettir, to be its Seed Bearer, and when the dying tree finally expires, it is prophesized that the Seed Bearer will give birth to a new world tree and a new world. Eika is always drawn to these Seed Bearers (there have been many over the centuries, to include Faena the Corrupted) and tries to stay in their company, hoping that when the new world is born, she shall be reborn with it.   As part of a deal to aid the Storm Eaters, Janicka agreed to stay with Eika and hunt by her side for the rest of her mortal life. And thus did the fierce Vaettir ranger leave the company of the Storm Eaters to be the companion of a goddess for the rest of her days, and perhaps give birth to a new world...
