Halstein, Slayer of Dragons, Lover of Cheese

Halstein is two feet of stone and heart and courage. The diminutive rock tomte is exceptionally daring and brave for his kind, seeking to make his home not in some farmer's barn or fisherman's longhall, but rather on the road. He claims to have been hiding aboard the Bloodkraken for weeks, keeping the vessel's drinking water supply full in exchange for cheese and snacks from Gorn, a member of the crew and short-lived first mate. He appears to be utterly benevolent and has taken to helping the Storm Eaters since Gorn's passing.
Halstein wields a short sword and looks shockingly capable with it. He also bears a magical shield inscribed with elven runes which can fill itself with fresh water daily. He has decorated this shield (which is actually bigger than Halstein) to make it look like a rock so he can hide beneath it if necessary. It is unknown where this tiny tomte got his weapon and magic shield, or how he learned to use them.
Halstein decided to willingly undergo the ritual to become an Eater of Worms, as he felt it was the best way to help and protect people. Svagnir completed the ritual, killing the tomte with his own sword and then bringing him back to life as an Eater.
Halstein now wields the magical Orcish battle axe "Night Blood", which he used to slay the dragon Scalding Rain.
Halstein inhaled the dying breath of the dragon Scalding Rain and carried its power within him until the day he died, crushed by the great stone club of the cyclops Borgrym the Unsleeping on the southernmost of the Axebreaker Isles. The dragon's last breath left his tiny body with its final exhalation and found a new home in Janicka. Halstein's remains were given to the waters of the Throat of the World, and the song of his elja was sung by his friend and companion, Svagnir. May he find peace (and much delicious cheese) in the highest boughs of Valdryssil.
