Gretch, Volva of the Ytre Woods

The mysterious witch of the Ytre Woods. She is one in a long line of witches (who have all taken the name Gretch at adulthood to build and maintain a legend of immortality) that have laired in the Serpents Hole, a barren and blasted clearing deep within the Ytre Woods where dragons once fought and died generations ago. The ground there, burned barren by dragon fire and soaked with the blood and magic of many dead wyrms, has become steeped in power. Children born there are touched by this power, making them volva of the serpent and twisting their appearance with draconic features. Gretch and her ancestors believed that they could give birth to a true dragon there, and for generations have lured or captured men to breed with them and conduct strange rituals, hoping to become the mother of a dragon. 
Gretch had two children, Mabd (father unknown) and Lakka (who is the daughter of Sigurth Dirk of Molde), and was pregnant with the child of Svarki Hornblower when slain by the Storm Eaters. Was this lost child the true dragon Gretch and her ancestors had hoped for, or just another deformed soul destined to continue generations of madness?
