Dainn the Sentient

Dainn is a sentient and "semi" autonomous skeleton made from a collection of Dverge and/or Dwarf bones. How Dainn attained sentience isn't quite clear. Meabha Helrik, Lodge Mage of the Seventh Circle, was attempting to animate two skeletons under duress while being attacked, when suddenly a burst of arcane energy erupted from her hand, peeling back the skin to reveal a fully functional skeletal hand with two jet-black bones that don't seem to match the rest of her hand bones. This burst of arcane energy fused to the two skeletons into one and somehow gave it sentience and abilities unseen in normal necromantic animations.   Dainn has scattered memories of its former life, or lives, and can speak limited words and phrases recalled from those same former lives. In addition to having sentience and a limited amount of free will, Dainn can also call upon some of the root magic that is innate to the dwarves of Valkheim.   Later Dainn experienced a waking vision, simultaneous to Maebha having a vivid dream which evolved her necromancy powers in strange ways. In the vision Dainn saw bits and pieces of several former lives, heard a woman's voice, and saw a beautiful ancient city nestled in snowy mountains. Dainn awoke from this vision to evolve into greater sentience and free will. He is no longer beholden to Maebha. With the old memories Dainn now recalls powers and abilities from former lives, which he used to double his size in a battle rage. One of Dainn's fingers also turned black, similiar the bones in Maebha's hand. What strange magic is behind Dainn's existence and Maebha's evolving power is still a mystery to both of them.   Dainn parted ways with the Storm Eaters to remain with Wrothgar the Guildless, as the legendary dwarven smith offered to help Dainn unlock the secrets of their forgotten past and current mysterious existence. The sentient skeleton's innocent and earnest demeanor (along with their knack at killing big ass monsters) will be sorely missed.
