The first mate of Aela Bloodkraken. A massive mountain of a man who wears a bull-headed helm and wields a massive two-handed axe. He seeks the remains of his mother, who died when he was a boy in some sea caves just south of Molde.
Arik claims that he is plagued by nightmares, and he blames his mother for them. Arik's mother was a heretic warlock that drew her power from the Sleeping Queen of Lilladenau, and she was killed by her fellow heretics for failing to help protect them from the Lodge Eldritch while they were in hiding. Arik's mother made a pact with the Sleeping Queen to save Arik when he was just a babe, which most likely has something to do with Arik's nightmares.
Arik wants to destroy his mother's remains, hoping that will free him from the nightmares that haunt him. His captain, Aela, believes this is a mistake and wants to take the remains to Lilladenau to end the curse.
Arik betrayed Aela in an attempt to destroy his mother's head and become the captain of the Bloodkraken. He believed Aela had lost her way and become obsessed with the Sleeping Queen. He stated that in his nightmares his mother, the Sleeping Queen, and Aela were all eating him alive. Arik's betrayal of Aela was foiled when the companions took her side. Arik was slain by Bjekmir, at the bidding of Svagnir.
