Specter

It is not uncommon to encounter specters. A translucent and faintly luminescent humanoid Ghost figure appears, but despite apparent damage from their violent deaths, several specimens preserve a lifelike appearance and may be identified by someone familiar with them. They are approximately the size of the humanoid they were in life, but absolutely weightless.   Despite their hostility toward all life, they retain minds and the capacity for rational thought.   Apart from being uncomfortable, a specter's contact actually saps the vitality of its victims. As life energy is drained, victims reincarnate as new specters, enslaved by their creators and strengthened by the presence of that life energy. This is true exclusively for humanoids, who become slaves to their creators when their life energy runs out. These predators regularly adopt the method of passing through solid surfaces such as walls, ceilings, and even the earth itself to reach their prey. They are typically observed in groups of no more than a dozen individuals. They are particularly sensitive to sunlight and will go to great lengths to avoid it.   The Shadow Dragon (s) associated with Clan Maelyl conquered Asy'anan-eas, the Undervale drow metropolis, in 602, and converted its population into shadow creatures, including specters. As a result of the drow's humanoid form, the result was a formerly drow metropolis with drow specters enslaved by Shadow Dragon. In 634, the drow's descendants overthrew and murdered the Shadow Dragon slavers. In the aftermath, the Shadow Dragon were transformed into spectral creatures themselves.   During this process, some of the drow specters merged with the Shadow Dragon transformed into Drow-dragons. These new creatures learned how to use their breath weapon to create specters when used to kill a humanoid target.   Areas plagued with specters, including those directly adjacent to Ghost , are exceedingly cold, but in a pleasant way. If animals are forced to come into contact with a specter, they flee and experience overwhelming horror.   As specters are undead servants, Khydar the Unnatural employs them to do his bidding.
