Felcryn accidentally discovered the base technology for creating the Firelance and Firearm technology when some metal fragments fell into the barrel of a device he was developing for starting fires at a short distance away and the black powder ignited, sending the metal flying across the room and shooting his assistant in the leg.
Failures & Embarrassments
When it became clear to Felcryn that the Firelance worked even better than he thought it might, Felcryn went out to celebrate his innovation and, while drunk, he was too loose tongued about his discovery. Word about the basic workings of the Firelance spread quickly and, while Felcryn was able to mitigate his mistake and gets credit for inventing firearm technology and the first Firelance, he lost out on a great deal of potential profit as others rushed to develop new firearm technology faster, including the Firestar.
