Mythology & Lore

Brodius, Lord of Winter: The Mightiest of the 4 Lords, Brodius brings about the Winter Months. He brings civilization on the surface to a halt and demands food donations to the Quatumviate Temple in Bilgewater which serves as food stores during the winter. The major holiday during Winter is named Permafrost, a series of 5 additional days added to the end of the year which is reserved for fasting as worship to Brodius for there survival of the worst of summer.   Teldrassil, Lady of Spring: Once the Only one that could end the harsh winters, she sacrificed herself during the cataclysm to help defeat the lords of evil. But this came at the cost of her ability to ward off the winter. Now the winter is longer and harsher. Though her spirit still lives on in the World Tree which allows for a short month of spring before summer begins.   Veenar, Lord of Summer: To fight the long winters a hot summer fills the middle months of the year. A Midsummer festival is held across Valdoris in celebration of the summer's closing months and in thanks to Veenar for keeping winter at bay.   Lutesil, Lady of Autumn: Helps to bring about the end of summer and issue in the winter months. Also known as the Lady of Harvest, Lutesil is the most loved of the Quatumviate as the temperature keeps steady through the middle months of autumn only dropping sharply during the transitions between the Seasons.

Tenets of Faith

Balance In All Things: The seasons are not caused by mortal actions but the balance that is struck by the 4 Lords and Ladies   A Harvest for All: Any Excess from a persons harvest must be given to the local temple to help prepare for the winter.   Revere the Lady of Spring: Teldrassil sacrificed herself for the world during the cataclysm. Each spring thanks is still given to the Lady for her sacrifice.

Worship

The Quatumviate is the most pervasive of the religions. It is odd to see places across Valdoris that don't celebrate some parts of the Quatumviate. Though the names may change the legend and worship stays mostly the same.   Holidays: Permafrost: A period of 5 days of fasting during the 5 extra days in winter.   Midsummer: A 2 day celebration of the worst of the Summer being over and the coming of the Autumn harvest   Teldrassil en Memorium: A day of remembrance for the lost of they Lady of Spring.   Grand Harvest: After the harvest has ended there is a great festival held where the excess is donated to the church and what must be eaten is during the great feasts.

Priesthood

Priests of any of the Lords and Ladies all help to plan the celebrations and try to help the populous as much as they can.

Granted Divine Powers

Where Clerics and Druids meet, The Quatumviate provides. Both Clerical and Druidic power come from the Quatumviate. Clerics tend to focus in winter and summer, where druids tend to focus on spring and Autumn. Though all seasons see all kinds of followers with divine powers.

Political Influence & Intrigue

The Quatumviate Temple is the largest temple on the high seas. Most Islands celebrate the major holidays. They also manage the food stores for winter. There is 4 leaders who rise through the ranks and become Archpriests of each of the seasons. The Season determines the leader of the church as a whole on any given day. Because of the shortened spring the Teldrassil Temple is used year around as a place of mediation and healing. The Spring month is spent in remembrance and healing as the priests of the The Quatumviate Temple go out into the streets healing the sick that have made it through the winter.
