Terrall Windwalker

High Elf; Evocation Wizard

Early Life

Born some 20 years after the close of the Arcanic Flare, Terrall didn't experience the devastation unleashed upon the elven population of the world first hand. His family was spread thin across the Lamlin Quay, working various labouring roles within the town, and as Terrall unloaded cargo from ships or hauled in fishing nets he considered there might be something more out there for him.
Undeterred by the cautions of his kin and recent historical events, Terrall sought books on the Arcane and trained at the edges of town or in abandoned houses where he could bring little danger to the people. As the humans he grew up along side began to build families of their own Terrall began conjuring creatures out of basic materials and sending electric charges at objects across rooms.
He was some 26 years old when a pair of travelers came through town, Drow youths who had lived through the Arcanic Flare - having survived despite their attunement for the arcane. The pair were on their way to investigate some ruins on a nearby island, and invited Terrall along. Naturally, he leapt at the opportunity to learn more about the world around him.
And thus began the adventures of Terrall Windwalker.

Adventuring

Terrall spent many decades travelling Val Kora with the Runeseekers; a troupe of adventurers comprising Thirastro Kotur, Elarin Zenathir and Prince Alarick Malcer. This band of mercenaries delved into countless ruins and slew monsters in the name of unravelling the mysteries of the world.
Many discoveries were attributed to this group, including planar theory - which still to this day is being explored and defined. They tended towards mysteries of elemental, celestial and demonic intervention within what came to be known as the Prime Material Plane. Though, as time wore on Prince Alarick retired from the Runeseekers to take up his position as King of Malacra and the rest of the party disbanded to their homes on the Arcane Coasts.
Using his gained prestige, Terrall took up a position as a Master Arcane at the illustrious Faerlath Academy and began tutoring first year students in the Arcane arts. He kept in frequent contact with the Runeseekers until the death of King Alarick, after which he maintained contact with Thirastro and Elarin on an occasional basis.

Faerlath Academy

While teaching at Faerlath, Terrall spent much of his research time travelling to continue his exploration of elemental magic. Through clever experimentation and hours of labour he attempted construct scrolls and tools to transport the user to the theoretical elemental planes. Many such experiments failed and he was ready to give up on his theories of other realms when a new student and lab assistant, Amafrey Stormwind, joined his team.
Together the pair had a breakthrough with the artificing and successfully transferred themselves to the Elemental Plane of Air, where they briefly celebrated before being chased from a well-groomed garden by a wrathful creature made of storming clouds.
Amafrey and Terrall spent many weeks in the Plane of Air before engineering a way to make their way home, but from here their passion for the planes only grew. They threw themselves into study and research, searching for ways to make the planes more easily accessed.
Years passed on and the pair became almost inseparable, their love for each other growing as deep as their love for adventure and knowledge elemental. Terrall's research eventually earned his elevation to Master Arcane Elementium of Storms, which he often boasted to anyone who would listen. When Amafrey's own research had her achieve a similar rank of Master Elementium of Winds, the pair arranged a marriage of their lines.

Minor Elemental Planes

Terrall's exploration of the Elemental Plane of Air lead to his hypothesising and discovery of minor planes existing within the gaps between the Prime Elemental planes. All too aware of Amafrey's human condition, he wanted to share this breakthrough with her as a farewell to their adventuring days.
Terrall and a heavy with child Amafrey took up their gear and headed into the plane of air to commence their expedition. As they descended through the planes the energies of the planes induced the labor of Amafrey, with her body no longer able to hold out while they were in the chaotic realm of lightning, she birthed a child marked in runes that resembled electricity.
After the trio returned from their first and final family foray in the elemental planes, life quietened down for Terrall. He shifted his focus onto more theoretical pursuits and limited his expeditions, feeling a need to be more present in the twilight years of Amafrey's life. His further research proved that his understanding of the minor elemental planes was only the surface of the actuality. Rather than being demi-planes they were something more powerful - they are less like planes and more like pure forces of elemental magic that feed into the Prime Elemental planes of Fire, Water, Air and Earth, giving them substance. As such, these realms of pure elemental energy are exceptionally dangerous and should not be travelled by mortals.
They are, so to speak, a place reserved for the Gods.
