Halfies

Short History of Halfies

These are the children of Orcs, Elves, Humans, and Demons who have broken rules and bloodlines. Many of these children have histories that are splattered with punishments earned from simply existing. From distant nations trying to blot them from existence, or undo the “mistake” of their creation, to their own parents casting them aside out of embarrassment, every Halfie has a story.

“ Normal is not something to aspire to,
it’s something to get away from."

What is there to do when you are an abomination, an anomaly, born in a nation like Gurane, Aqus, or Sheloth? You simply find a way to survive. Unfortunately, after 50 to 80 or so years of the lucky ones “surviving”, many Halfies get tired of hiding and running and watching half the bloodline that wishes them dead die off due to old age. There are rumours of Efihliwe, or other “protected pockets”, but they are not accessible for every Halfie.

At some point in recent history, a clever few made passage in the Fae Realm to a land locked in by mountains impassable and seas too unpredictable for settler boats. To reach Vaeruin is to make a pact with oneself and forces not fully understood. It is said that Gods created Vaeruin for themselves, we just happened to find it.

Over the centuries, the continent of Vaeruin became more than a hiding place for those lucky enough to have made their way through the Fae Realm. Generations have passed, creating an interesting blend of bloodlines and persons, and most certainly most are not just “half” anything at this point, but the name still sticks.

Temperament

Halfies share the chaotic bent of their heritage. They value both personal freedom and creative expression, demonstrating neither love of leaders nor desire for followers. They chafe at rules, resent others’ demands, and sometimes prove unreliable, or at least unpredictable. One thing that brings them together is love. After all, a bit of love is what brought them to existence.
