Sargento (sɐɾ.ʒˈẽ.tu)
Sargento is a non commissioned rank in most of the human militaries in Uwa.
Usually, with at least 10 years of service, the rank itself is divided into 3:
-Sargento: The first rank is usually just addressed by its normal phonetic, this are soldiers that have proved not only valor in combat but also leadership capabilities. They are in direct command of 10-20 soldiers in a "Partison" the smallest independent unit size. These soldiers command respect from the lower enlisted and are expected to maintain discipline in their men given ample liberty to dish out punishment or rewards. The more senior of these can also be appointed as an Addjunctant to a lower officer usually a Leutnant who is in command of a "Sactarion", a group of 40-70 men.
-Sargento-Maestro: After another 7-9 years of service as a Sargento they are promoted to this rank. These men are among the most respected in the armed services as they have not only survived many years in the service but they had to distinguish themselves to get to this rank, this is also the first rank where a non-noble commands more respect than a knight, as knights (unless from a royal or high-noble family) serve under these. They are in charge of discipline and logistics at the "Decadus" level, a unit comprised of 100-150 men these also have at least 3-8 knights depending on the "Regimenté". The more seniors are at the "Batallion" still in charge of discipline and logistics but this time with 200-400 men in their command.
-Sargento-Maior: This are the top of the Sargento class, they have at least 25 years of service and are amongst the most decorated and respected soldiers in the military even officers (especially lower officers) do not dare to cross these men, as they are both hardy and politically very well connected as they have served alongside senior officers for years and most with the utmost professionality. They are found at all levels in "Regimenté" and above and are usually affectionally called "ghosts" by those under them as they are both hard to find and everywhere at the same time, always keeping tabs on what their soldiers are doing and conducting themselves.
