White Hurricane

The White Hurricane, originally called "Huracán Blanco" in Spanish, was a tropical hurricane that devastated the area surrounding the Caribbean, hitting specially hard the areas of the northern coast of Colombia.
It is estimated that damages made by the hurricane sum up to 12 Billion €, being one of the most devastating natural disasters in the modern age.

The hurricane

The main cause of the hurricane has been thought to be the abnormally high temperatures in the Colombian interior, all of which, with unusually cold winds incoming from the eastern coast of Vinland settled the perfect conditions for such a distater to happen.
First news of the event came almost 2 weeks before its highest point, when it was thought of a possibility of a hurricane to form in the area and follow an eastwards movement trend. 3 days before the Hurricane actually formed, speculations were started to be made, as conditions pointed to Colombia as its immediate destination.
After a couple days, it would be confirmed that the hurricane was much more powerful than expected and its course was towards the Guyanese plateau instead of the Atlantic ocean.
Preparations were made, dams were opened, sailing was prohibited for security reasons, and the Colombian Defense Forces were put on standby, as ships like ARC Cubagua were sent to help big cities to help preparate for the catastrophe.
On May 21rd, the Hurricane arrived at Colombia, by which point water levels rised even more that a meter in some places, lowlands were flooded and Los llanos (Colombia) were heavily damaged.
By May 25th the hurricane's course would finally be poiting towards the Atlantic, but with millions displaced and thousands disappeared, the economy and national morale started going downhill. By June 2nd the hurricane was nowhere to be seen, as the defense forces made a massive search and rescue effort nationwide. More than 23 thousand people would be declared as never found.
