Locatel Tower
The Locatel tower is a skyscraper located in Caracas.
The building is the second highest buiding in the city, being entirely an office building. The tower also has a spire of 42 meters on top, as well as 2 helipads and an executive pool.
History
The building's constructiuon started in 1989, under the company Beco. After 3 years of construction, the company decided to sell the building, as it was thought that more srotage space and more efficient distributions were a bigger priority than a bigger headquarters building. After the building was bought halfway throught its construction by Locatel, the design was revised and an extra 18 meters and a tall spire were to be included in the design too, as well as an extended park next to the building and an extra helipad. Construction was shortly resumed and would go on for another 4 years until 1996, when it was officially concluded. From then, the owner has stayed the same, but lower floors and some spaces were sold to other companies. The building has since then provided the company with massive amounts of free advertising, also becoming a touristic attraction after some time and an overall icon of the city. The 2 last floors have also been reserved for tourism, becoming an observatory from where to view most of the city. A big parking garage has also been built near the building, as well as a bigger park and an impressive mountain at the front gate.Future
Is it predictaed that the building will be sold within the next 20 years, probably to a government-related company, but there are no official news about it.Credits: Top image: Colombian flag - thevaccinereaction.org, modified by Colombus
