Easter

Easter, also called Resurrection Sunday, Pascha, Easter Day, or simply as Easter, is the day in which christians commemorate the resurrection of Jesus, which happened at the third day after his cricification as portrayed in the Bible. For followers of catholicism, Easter is a day of joy, happyness and abundance.   By tradition, and because of how important the festivity is for some people, familiar gatherings and parties happen during this day, as well as marriages, which because of the date, can be as much as double as expensive than the average in some countries.

Pagan traditions

A pagan tradition of unknown origin by which chocolate eggs are gifted has also been made popular in the new world. By this tradition, big cocholate eggs are gifted, most of the times conbtaining small toys or figurines within.   Another pagan tradition has arisen during the last century, by which "Easter eggs" are hidden around places for people, specially children, to find. These eggs were usually made of wood and painted beautifully, but with time and specially after the previous trend was settled as a tradition, these eggs were made smaller and smaller, and instead of being made of wood they are mostly now made of solid chocolate, with the idea being that whoever may find the eggs then gets to keep and eat them.   In recent years, Easter has become known worldwide for the sweet colored chocolate eggs, almost overshadowing any kind of religious importance to the celebration from an observer's perspective, essentially becoming more of a "Chocolate Party Day" and less of a "Our Saviour has come back" day.

Countries like Concorde have declared Easter to be a national free day, hoping for a more peaceful and calm mobilization of the population for the familiar gatherings and commutes. Other countries like Colombia have the entire Holy week as free days for eveyone, in the case of Colombia the only exception being those working in services of basic needs, whose work hours are reduced at maximum to half their average hours on any other day.
