New Orleans

Demographics

Obviously New Orleanians make up the majority of the population. The ruling class is formed from the richest dozen or so families, with the rest of the population roughly divided two-thirds into lower class and one-third into middle class, with another dozen or so families within sight of the ruling class. There is also a sizable minority of Motorists that have taken to the skies, numbering roughly 10.000.

Government

The richest families in New Orleans form the government, though the ascendance of new families into the government is rare, as it requires a simple majority from the representatives of the ruling families, who are unlikely to want to diminish their relative power. Taxation is loosely defined, and can range from nearly everything to practically nothing, depending on how much one displays their wealth, one's connection to the ruling families, and how well you can evade the tax-gatherers. As such, the highest taxed people are the families close to the ruling families in wealth and individual merchants.

Defences

Advanced but makeshift Atlantean weaponry, both personal and ship-class, a dozen nuclear weapons of various sizes, the largest armada outside the Pacific, and an impenetrable energy shield around the city.

Industry & Trade

Besides the necessary industry to keep the city flying, New Orleans produces little in the way of goods, other than weapons. Most of the food and fresh water is produced by their colonies, and other goods are raided for as necessary.

Infrastructure

Roads have mostly been built over to form better landing pads and airstrips for various aircraft, and as such have been mostly ignored. Most infrastructure work goes towards two things. Keeping the New Orleans in the air and keeping New Orleans from literally falling apart.

Assets

Probably the wealthiest city east of the Mississippi, and perhaps the world. Has a massive cache of gold, art, and other valuable items, ranging from small nuclear weapons to the first Superman comic.

Guilds and Factions

Besides the ruling families, which each have members that continue to perform raids to gather wealth or destroy the assets of rival families, there are three thieves' guilds, a pair of rival shipbuilding families, the Sheriffs, the Church of Our Golden God, and a small number of idealists who want to bring about democracy and fairness.

Architecture

New buildings are mostly built from the wreckage of old buildings. In a few cases, raiders will steal entire buildings to add them to the city, resulting in an eclectic and highly variable architectural style.

Geography

Usually found roaming the Caribbean, gathering resources from its colonies in a long circuit

Natural Resources

Few natural resources remain other than Atlantean technology yet to be uncovered within
