The Tragedy of Yarmoon

By Cornelius Grimm
"I have studied the histories, Yarmoon was a cleric, like myself, but instead of my beloved light-bringer, Yarmoon worshipped Rutar, the God of Water - the very god you seek to spite.    One day, he prayed for aid in saving a poor man’s life. Rutar, as gods tend to be, was a trickster, and provided Yarmoon with a cursed flagon of water in response. He told Yarmoon that the water, in time, would heal - but in reality it only made those who drank it thirstier, and thirstier, and thirstier... until eventually you run into the sea and try to swallow the ocean.   Yarmoon believed it was a healing rite, and with good intentions, gave a small amount of the water to the entire islands’ poor and elderly. By the end of that week, everyone around him had either drowned or abandoned the island for fear that they had been set upon by a curse.   Yarmoon discovered Rutar’s deception. Driven mad with guilt, he personally fished the bodies of hundreds of islanders out of the sea in order to construct an unholy monument against the God of Water. This monument - when offered a sacrifice - imbues those present with a resistance to water, and a strength against those with the Blessing of Rutar.   It is not without cost, and the pain you will endure to receive this blessing is significant. However - if you seek quarrel with The Depth of Salt himself, you would be foolish not to take advantage of Yarmoon’s tragedy. You will find the shrine at the end of this tomb. You’re lucky, most of these shrines require a good amount of guessing to attune to. Yarmoon hated the Shallow so much, he left instructions. Good luck." 0
