Master Craftsman

Master Craftsman are legendary builders, engineers, inventors and creators of Masterworks: projects or items with unique traits and abilities. The first known Master Craftsman was Onir, Goddess of Pride/Honor, who achieved the title upon creation of Onir's Hammer, a powerful weapon that she used to slaying one of the original elemental titans of the world. Since then, there have been roughly 100 total Master Craftsman, each completing masterworks with incredible power and awesome capabilities.

Master Craftsman are most commonly elves or dwarves, but can come from any humanoid race in the world of Ustolia. Births of Master Craftsman come in waves, and usually align with impending major events in world history. The most recent wave of Master Craftsman births began shortly before the fall, and has extended to this day.

A Master Craftsman's life's purpose is to create their masterwork, a venerable item or project that begins with a vision delivered to the craftsman near the end of their life. Upon recieving this vision, Master Craftsman become obsessed with the work, and are often plagued with depression and early death shortly following its completion.

Known Masterworks

Masterworks intended for war are known as Genomes, while projects for civilian use are referred to as Ascendencies. Currently, there are roughly 100 total masterworks in Ustolia, with the majority being held in the religious city of Parish or the Holy Mountain of Mareihn.
