Discorporeal Sleeve

A thin, black, arm-length glove that allows its wearer to phase their arm out of existence.

This was going completely over the corporal's head. The safe had been found locked but empty. There was no evidence of tampering, save for a single footprint in the room, and the owner had confided that a trap set into the lock was neither set off nor disarmed. He shook his head as he left the chamber. They'd have to catch the thief by canvassing fences.

This is an almost ephemereal black sleeve enchanted with magic useful for those who may wish to acquire items outside of their possession or surprise an unsuspecting foe. It allows the wearer to phase their arm (and hand) out of existence, giving opportunities for retrieving items within sealed containers, opening doors from the outside and striking enemies from hiding. A discorporeal sleeve has no marks to show who created it so there is difficulty knowing whether it was the product of a magician, an enterprising thief or the followers of some sort of god or fiend of shadow.

It appears to work through the same mechanism of action as oil of etherealness and the phasing of a phase spider: a complete exclusion of the laws of reality as opposed to transportation to a different plane.

One such sleeve was being used by Shipley, a wererat in Teris, to steal treasures in the hopes of funding and advertising a thieves' guild. After his defeat, it passed on to Ferdinand Woyzeck, scribe of Thirasmus.

Discorporeal Sleeve

Wondrous Item

Uncommon Plane Requires Attunement

This glove has four charges, and it regains all expended charges at dawn. As an action, you may use a charge to cause your arm, or a section of your arm such as your hand, to disappear and become incorporeal. If your hand becomes incorporeal while holding an item weighing no more than 10lb, the item dematerialises in the same way and may continue to be carried. Otherwise, the item is dropped to the floor.

As a bonus action, you may reverse some or all of this effect, causing the chosen section of arm to reappear. You have advantage on any attacks made against creatures on the round your arm rematerialises, provided they are either unarmed or using a weapon that was rematerialised at the same time. If you are intersecting with an object or creature when you rematerialize, you take 2d6 force damage as your arm is pushed back out into an empty space.

A very dark grey, silken glove that goes all the way up to the shoulder. There are thin silver bands - one at the shoulder and one at the wrist. The glove and bands have no identifying marks or symbols. When in use, it appears that the wearer is completely missing any dematerialised sections of their arm and that dark cloth covers the "wound".
