Personal history
Her birth name was Kamil Ann Williams. She is an orphan; both her parents are dead. Her father was a victim of gang violence. He was shot in a drive by shooting that was believed to be related to gang turf war. The person committing the crime was never caught, but it was believed that the shooter was part of the Ancients. She was only 5 when her family died and thus doesn't have any real memory of him. He is more a collection of vague impressions in her mind than solid memories. She does have a handful of pictures of him. Her mother was killed in a motor vehicle accident when she was 10 years old. She was given her mother's necklace when her mother died.
There were no other immediate family members able or willing to take in the 3 orphaned children so they were sent to the orphanage. She has 2 biological brothers who were not adopted with her, but whom she has since met as an adult. She has a biological brother (Kevin Williams) who is 41 and a biological brother (Alexander Miller) who is 38. Kevin Williams was raised in the system and he resents that his siblings were adopted but he wasn’t. He doesn’t have a relationship with either Kamil or Alexander. Her other brother, Alexander, also doesn’t talk to her. He hates Draco Industries and cannot forgive her for working for them. He doesn’t understand how she can work in a position of governmental power in a corrupt government.
She was adopted and both her adoptive parents are still alive. When she was adopted, her last name was legally changed to the adoptive family's name: Lewis. Her adoptive family was of average means. She has one adoptive sibling. Her adoptive sibling is a sister (Andrea Lewis) who is also 42. Kamil and Andrea grew up very close. They were always best friends when they were children. When they were 22 (year 2126), Kamil suggested that they go to a new restaurant and try shellfish for the first time. Andrea had an anaphylactic reaction to the shellfish and died. Kamil blames herself for her adoptive sister's death. Her adoptive parents still live in Seattle, but she has grown distant from them. Being with them seems a betrayal since Andrea cannot be with them. Her adoptive parents do not blame her for Andrea's death, but she still hasn't been able to reconcile that guilt within herself.
12/10/2136 Kamil was attacked while she was walking home. She was 32 years old at the time. She was rescued by a group of Dragon Born. While they were escorting her home after the attack, they were surprised by her ability to see and understand that they were something more than modified humans. They reported her ability to "see" them to the newly formed Shadow Investigations Unit who decided to recruit her solely because she had this special ability to see past the veil.
She was born with Type 1 Diabetes and because of this is dependent on daily medications.
She participated in a medical experiment with the goal of curing Type 1 Diabetes. In the end, the cure didn't work. But she was one of a handful of test subjects that ended up with unexpected benefits. After this experiment, her pain threshold has been unbelievable. Regardless of how much pain she is experiencing, she can push through and get things done.
Shortly after joining the Shadow Investigations Unit, she discovered that she was a natural at investigation work. It was something that came easily to her.
Early on in her career with Draco Industries when she was working as Shadow Investigator: she investigated a case surrounding the creation of the undead. This led her to investigating the Armitage family. The end result was that her entire team was killed and Draco Industries protected the Armitage family in order to protect its branch company. She is sure that the Armitage family has not forgotten her or her attempt to bring them down. This greatly changed her view of Draco Industries.
After seeing her entire team die, Kamil decided that she needed to learn to defend herself. Being smart wasn’t going to be enough to keep herself alive. She was lucky and was able to find a self-defense teacher that wasn’t associated with Draco Industries. Since that time, she has been carrying weapons that are easy to conceal.

She was one of 8 agents on that team. 2/11/40 Team 8 was mostly wiped out. She was the only team member to survive. 5/14/2144 she was promoted to the Lead Investigator of Team 8.
Failures & Embarrassments
She has Dyslexia and finds this to be very embarrassing. In her mind, being intelligent is closely associated with being an avid reader. Having dyslexia feels like a personal failing.
Mental Trauma
Andrea suffered anaphylaxis and died. Kamil blames herself because she was the one that decided they should try shellfish for the first time and this was what Andrea turned out to be allergic to. Even though she logically knows that there was no way she could have known or prevented this, she still feels that she is to blame. She suffers from nightmares.
Kamil was shot in the head and killed in 2146. Mouse used magic to bring her back to life, but she still remembers being shot. There are times that she also believes that she can recall things from after the time she died, but she is certain that is just the trauma playing tricks on her. Dying has just given her another set of nightmares.

She knows both her biological brothers, but doesn't keep in contact with either of them. They are just another pair of people to her. When they first met, she tried to forge a sibling bond with them, but they burned that bridge and she feels it's their loss.
