Drow

Shadow Kind

The Drow came from the Shadow Realm. They are long lived which makes it more likely that they will have children while in the Mundane world. It is not uncommon for a Drow to have been born in the Mundane world. Many are half elves. Those who are from the Shadow Realm will have strong emotions attached to their society and their people's way of life. If they are female, they are likely to long for the community that was left behind. However, the males are more likely to feel that this is a chance for freedom that they never dared imagine. It is not unknown to the Shadow Kind that Markova Enterprises is establishing a new home for the wayward drow. Since the drow are not generally trusted by the Shadow Kind, they are readily directed to where they can find their own people.

The Traditional Drow

As a general rule, drow living within a Lolthite society couldn't afford to show emotions like compassion or love, for they were easy to exploit and drow often preferred emotional cruelty over causing physical harm. The strife they constantly endured led them to be paranoid, with a fear of everyone and everything, from the potential loss of personal position, Lolth's favor, the loyalty (or even the threat of outright rebellion) of their inferiors, to punishment by their own superiors' hands. While living in the Mundane world has mitigated this greatly, they have not left all of that behind in the Shadow Realm. As their religion dictates, they are a cruel and selfish people with pride paramount. They have accepted that they must allow other races to live among them as they do not have the numbers required to create an independent nation solely of drow. Perhaps in the future, but for now, they tolerate the other races and the Mundane because they must.

The Mundane Drow

Those drow that have chosen to leave their societies behind are still marked by that society and have more difficulties shedding their patterns of behaviors then they had expected. However, those drow born within the Mundane world are not weighed down with such baggage. Perhaps because of the influence of their parents or because of genetics, they still tend to be more cruel and paranoid then other races, but they are far from the extremes that the drow present in the Shadow Realm. Because of this, the new generation of drow and half elf drows are slowly establishing themselves within the Shadow Kind communities and finding a grudging acceptance there.
