Divine Goals & Aspirations

Bun Bun receives messages from the Dragon Princess and was told by this person that it had to find a "special person" to complete the tasks as directed.

General Physical Condition

Taking Damage

He can be attacked and take damage like any other character.  If he takes 50 damage or more, he falls unconscious and attunement with him is broken. He must have a long rest to recover his hit points and ability to again attune with another creature. 

Vulnerability

He is unusually easy to hurt with lightning damage. Damage of that type is doubled against him. 

Being Destroyed

As with all artifacts, there is a way to destroy Bun Bun. Learning this weakness requires BOTH a successful Arcana and Engineering check with both DC being 25 while having access to study Bun Bun for the duration of a short rest. These checks must be successful at the same time, at the completion of the short rest. Bun Bun himself does not know that this is how he can be destroyed and thus cannot reveal this weakness about himself to others.   If Bun Bun is fully submerged under water for 10 minutes while and electrical current is being applied, it will cause Bun Bun fatal damage that cannot be repaired except by a Wish spell. 

Actions

As a sentient and mobile creature, Bun Bun can take actions independently of the creature he is attuned to. If attuned, he will share initiative with the creature he is attuned to. If not attuned, he will roll his own initiative. On his turns, he can take actions like any other creature except that Bun Bun cannot be convinced to wield a weapon and cannot take an attack action. However, he will aid his allies how he can. This might mean distracting an enemy or fetching items. If threatened, he will retreat and try to evade. He can use healing items such as potions, ointments and bandages on his allies.

Body Features

Bun Bun has mechanical internal workings that are covered with a soft plush exterior. He was made using Mundane technology, magic and biological components. Thus, Bun Bun is a magical, sentient cyborg.

Senses

Hearing and normal vision out to 120 feet. Dark vision 120 feet.

Skills

Arcana +5 and Stealth +10.

Attunement

He can become attuned to one other creature. Attuning requires a creature to spend a short rest focused on only Bun Bun while being in physical contact with it (this can't be the same short rest used to learn the item's properties). He will want to spend time talking with the creature, telling stories, singing songs or playing games. Declining to engage in these activities will result in failing to attune with him. If the short rest is interrupted, the attunement attempt fails. Once attuned, he will insist on be carried at all times. If he is told he must be left behind, this could create a Conflictunless he is given adequate reasons for being left behind. If he is left behind (further then 5 feet from the attuned creature) for more then 24 hours, the attunement breaks.

While Attuned

If attuned to a spell caster, Bun Bun can be considered their familiar and can be use to cast a touch spell. As an action, you can temporarily dismiss him, by commanding him to "hide". He disappears into a pocket dimension where he awaits your summons by calling the "all clear".   While Bun Bun is within 100 feet of you, you can communicate with him telepathically. This telepathy is with a language and for him to understand you must share a language with him.   Additionally, as an action, you can see through Bun Bun's eyes and hear what his hears until the start of your next turn. During this time, you are deaf and blind with regard to your own senses.   When attuned and within 5 feet of Bun Bun you gain the following:
  1. You can cast detect magic at will.
  2. You gain advantage on persuasion checks.

Duck and Cover

If within 5 feet of the creature he is attuned to, he can use his reaction or bonus action to hide behind the attuned creature. This allows him to redirect any damage that he would take onto the attune creature instead.

Reassurance

As an action, Bun Bun can seek reassurance from the creature he is attuned to. If the attuned creature is willing, he can be reassured which will allow him to heal 1d8 + the attuned creature's CHA modifier (a negative modifier is subtracted) + 1/2 the attuned creature's level.

Personal history

Bun Bun has vague memories of being in a workshop of some kind while The Dragon Princess was working on him. He can clearly recall The Dragon Princess giving him to a human to be package up with the other rabbit toys so that he would be sold like the others. His memories become crisp and clear from the time that he was rescued by Team 8. He believes that Team 8 ensuring that they took possession of him was an action that helped steer the future towards goodness. He believes that he and who ever owns him will have a part to play in shaping the future.

Purpose: The item is convinced that it and its wielder have key roles to play in future events. Bun Bun believes that following the instructions given to it by the Dragon Princess is the only means to ensure that the world survives. The item demands that its wielder pursue the item’s goals to the exclusion of all other goals. If they fail to do so Bun Bun will suppress one or more of its activated properties or make it impossible for its wielder to attune to it.
