The Underdark

The Underdark is a series of cave systems, tunnels, and large caverns far beneath the surface of Ura. It houses a variety of unique ecosystems and civilisations, that are adapted to life without sunlight. Various forms of fungus make up the majority of flora, while much of the fauna is extremely dangerous and able to navigate in total darkness. Additionally, many forms of fauna, such as Hook-Horrors and Umberhulks, are extremely intelligent, and are believed by some to be sapient.
The Underdark beneath Colossia is largely controlled by the Lolthite Hegemony, while Duergar clans and Quaggoth tribes dominate the caverns under Dukhala. Bakeria is believed to sit atop the smallest cavern network of the three continents, which is dominated by Myconids. Svifneblin, Flumphs, and non-Bakerian Myconids are common beneath Dukhala and Colossia, generally making their homes close to friendly Human or Dwarven settlements. Aboleths tend to control the smaller sections of the Underdark beneath the oceans, while Illithids, despite once being the strongest power in the Underdark, only have small, scattered settlements, and are believed to be nearly extinct.
