Compit Hall

Sphere: Academic   The city of Ur is full of architectural marvels - frozen music in polished stone, edifices which make the heart soar. Compit Hall is not one of them. A confused mess of classrooms, scholars' quarters, and offices have overcome what was once a staid and orderly arrangement of quadrangles and courtyards. Ad-hoc bridges have been set up, walls constructed or knocked through repeatedly for centuries, as buildings gradually swallowed each other, only to be consumed in their turn.   It is said - inaccurately, but understandably - that the Dean of Comparative Geography examines her first-year students by simply setting them loose at one end of the Hall and seeing how many can find their way to the other.   Compit Hall is the main campus for the College of the Realms. It is made up of:
  • The Birdcage, a former temple of a forgotten deity now occupied by the Department of Normative Jurisprudence
  • Three Corners, a sprawling mess of studios given over to the Department of Acantonic Vexillology
  • Ways and Means, a strangely fortified warehouse utilised by the Department of Remunerative Antiquarianism
  • Hope House, a gargoyle-ridden structure that serves to contain the Department of Numismatic Epigraphy
