An Oktober Hike #28: The Force of a Jumbo Jet
"I'm not afraid of you - or your people," he reassures me.
"But I'm afraid of yours," I confess to him. To myself. And I hate it. Don't cry. Don't let him see you cry.
"Then I will come to you. See your home. And show you only the joys of mine. Please, let me know you and your world." His words hit me, disarms me. With the force of a jumbo jet, they collide with my chest and my heart starts racing. I lift my eyes to his. Let him see that he has won. That I am conquered.
"Yes. I can do that." There we stand, frozen in time. He lowers his face to mine, and I lift my lips to greet his. For once not just in lust, but something deeper. Something vulnerable. Something valuable.
