An October Hike #25: Quoth The Scarecrow

For a moment his face is unreadable, while I can almost hear the cogs turning behind those deep dark blue eyes. Then his face turns into a smile.

“I’m happy to hear it,” he says as if I couldn’t tell from how he’s beaming. I realize I’m beaming too, and break eye contact to snap out of our little moment.

"It's actually really nice out here," I sigh as my mind drifts to my home, Evergreen. "I wish my friends could experience it too."

"Well, who says they can't?" Leo asks.

"They would be too... unusual," I say, hoping he'll catch my drift.

"Everything in life is unusual until you get accustomed to it," he answers after a short pause.

"Are you quoting the Scarecrow to me?" I say with a surprised grin. So he reads too. I like that in a person.

"It fit too well not to," he winks. Charmer.
