Hoarcrown Tokens
A hoarcrown token is a small disk of wood painted with the Hoarcrown of Otso Hoarcrowned. In Ursaani culture, when a family cannot secure enough food to last the winter they may petition the jarl to issue them a token. These tokens are then given to a better off family in the community, and that family will provide what they can to assist the less fortunate family. It is considered a great honor to be given a hoarcrown and considered a moral imperative to fulfill the uphold the tradition. If a family that is given a hoarcrown ends up needing assistance the next winter, they simply add a notch on the reverse side of the token and pass it on to another family with means. When a member of a family that is in possession of hoarcrown tokens, the family and the deceased are given high honors. Many families who rely on hoarcrown tokens to survive remember exactly who helped them in the past and do whatever they can to support the mourning family.
