Greatneedles
Greatneedles are massive, golden fir needles dropped from the First Tree. These needles are highly coveted as symbols of wealth and proximity to the First Tree, Greatneedles serve two purposes within Giltbough; to the commoners, a Greatneedle can purchase a month's worth of food or more and to the nobility, they represent the family's general wealth. Common uses for Greatneedles among the nobility are as materials for artisans to craft heirloom jewelry and art pieces. Some of the poorer families that have the luck to find a Greatneedle hold on to them, keeping them well hidden within their homes as good luck charms.
The Royal Family of Giltbough has a sizeable collection of Greatneedles, many of which have been carved into statuettes or incorporated into garments such as Elisabet IV's coronation dress. Chief among these relics are the family crowns which sport a fine latticework of Greatneedle shards.
