Grunkle's angels travel through Ered Mithrrin and start their journey through the Mire of lost souls, encountering the Phervian lich Metis, a pair of hags, and finally a young black dragon.

Encountering an Illithid lich at Wū Yāo Mén, who introduced himself as Metis, the group got what information they could without trusting him, even suspecting he is the lich that Girliorth is hunting. Traveling up the path they meet a pair of Hags, disguised as beautiful women, they fight together to kill a group of trolls. Traveling to Shadowbrook the group stocked up on supplies before heading into the Mire. Encountering the horned serpent of the Ancient primal beasts, before exploring a line of towers till they reached the central one, where a young black dragon had taken up residence. The ensuing fight left Locz with a strange travel partner and the Dragon dead.
