Void stone

A shiny black stone native to the mire of lost souls, showed up when the void magic ritual was cast. Highly magical in nature, void stone leans more towards necrotic magic even causing those who die around it to rise as undead. It is also thought to be responsible for the Mire itself. Another property of the stone is it is highly resistant to not only magic but the elements in general, requiring acid to forge into use.

Usage history

early use

Used by magic users on both sides of the revolts, the stone was originally used as protection runes to help guard areas. It was also heavily used Vioddoll, this usage lead to the discovery of the property of undeath during and after the second siege.

Artifacts and building

Many enchanters and magic users found ways to craft the stone into items. These items became highly infused with magic usually having unforeseen effects. It was found to be especially effective a making narcotic spell focuses. They also used it to build their homes to protect them from other magic users as it was found the void stone was impossible to scry through.

Imperial barrer

During the imperial age, the clerics used void stone to create a barrier against the encroaching mire. The use of necromantic stone was blamed for the eventual failure of the barrier though, in truth, the barrier only lasted as long due to the stone, to the point the barrier still slightly functions.

Disuse

After the divine age, the use of void stone decreased to near non-existence. This was due to a mixture of the unpredictable effects as well as the difficulty in harvesting and forging it. Though a few magic users still seek it out. Intreast has repeaked in the fey age.
