Ikahri

Maven-in-waiting of House Moonflower Ikahri (a.k.a. Maven)

Hailing from the island of Evermeet, Ikahri finds herself studying in a land abroad. The stunningly massive collection of magic and mages has tempted her interests to Melg. She currently works for the interests of The Library of Melg while deepening her own arcane and world knowledge. Her accelerated magic education and tendency towards esoteric lore, as well as her training in creature identification have proved invaluable to her new allies.   Among certain Elven communities she has claimed to be the current lead Maven-in-waiting, Ikahrias, for the honored House Moonflower of Evermeet, but her young age leads many to disbelieve any version of these claims. Furthermore those in the know understand the progenitors of this title as well as their Queen vanished many decades ago.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Tall, willowy, almost sylphlike, but lacking the innate graceful stature that many of her kind are known for.

Body Features

Her skin is an deep shade of midnight blue, yet it seems brighter at a distance. Close up it seems her skin acts as a pane to a deeper light source. Her hair length rivals her height.

Facial Features

Slightly upturned eyes, softly pointed jaw, and back pointing ears lend her face a sharper look.

Identifying Characteristics

The deep crimson eyes are likened towards more sinister creatures such as the Drow rather than High Elves descendants. An apt comparison coupled with the sterling white that encroaches the tips of her hair. A bit more peculiar is the very distinct tattoo design on her upper chest. To most it is a design including a seemingly alien language. To Elves it is the only tangible credit for her hailing from Evermeet or having any relation to House Moonflower.

Physical quirks

She is thinner than she should be for her stature.

Special abilities

Elves are not known for constant emoting, but when you'd expect a particular expression from her, you might catch an fleeting gust emanating from her frame. This effect actually originates from her wondrous magic creation.

Apparel & Accessories

The expected spellbook, pouch, and vials of a wizard. She is most often robed in a light yet billowy body length jacket. Despite its ornamental appearance, it has been tailored to house all of her miscellaneous items and tools in lieu of a pack or satchel.

Specialized Equipment

There sits a very large grimoire-like tome on her back. At times it seems to move of its own accord. The various other books she carries are often seen afloat with minimal prompting.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

(Unfinished/WIP/Some details subject to change)   Ikahri hails from Evermeet, an island that exists on an ever shifting axis between the Prime Material Plane and an existence akin to the Feywilds. Here she was born to a spirited moon elf sorceress Myrvana. Her wizarding master and father, known to her only as "Bael" or guardian, remained far removed from the main body of Evermeet. The majority of her childhood was spent being groomed for a position among Elven lore keepers known as Maven. Near equal in status to the Tel'Haress, they work to assist the lore keeping bodies of Evermeet. Mavens were to focus exclusively on the oldest of Elven lore as well as more esoteric subjects compared to their peers. Her chosen studies foci were matters of the arcane, magic history, a myriad of matters pertaining to the planes, and the application of "wondrous" magical devices. To best prepare her for candidacy in this role, Ikahri was allowed to accompany her father on several expeditions as a child that many elves would not have the opportunity to see until at least a century had grown on them.   She had opportunity to join the recovery of an entombed Grand Library she hoped to one day inherit protection over. Her father requested she accompany his party due to the abundance of portal-like devices used to traverse the pockets of this library. An inverted tower of doors and portals made up the bulk of the main building. Reflections into the Plane of Mirrors, peeks into Celestia, the skies of Sharn, a dormant door to a city named Sigil, and even a still breathing instance of the Netherese Empire. Some seemed like scenes right out of her history books while others seemed be contrivances she felt could never come to pass. She concluded and later proved that these portals contained both genuine memories as well as magically created visions into worlds adjacent to her own. While her time here was meant to be spent primarily familiarizing herself with as much of the trove as possible and furthering her studies, she found herself tinkering with these portals for increasingly long periods of time...   (Unfinished/WIP/Some details subject to change)

Gender Identity

Female

Sexuality

Heterosexual   -Complications with the position she trains for stops her from entertaining advances from anyone she comes across.

Education

While it’s customary for elves to pursue a myriad of arts and techniques, Ikahri forswore many of the physical practices to accelerate her intellectual studies. In addition to wizard training, her studies focused on the mysteries of arcana and knowledge concerning other planes. In addition she studies the small scale creation of "wondrous" items that she has come across in her readings.

Employment

Currently employed as a Librarian of Melg and by extension the Adventurers Guild of Melg

Accomplishments & Achievements

Her personal sense of pride comes from her prowess as a wizard and her inception into a Maven's training at such a young age. She is personally responsible for the acquisition of many inimitable texts and a small number of minor relics of importance to elven history that otherwise would have fallen to Evermeet's adversaries.

Failures & Embarrassments

She lacks quite a few of the traits and skills associated with elven culture and history. She finds her ignorance of proper swordplay, lack of graceful movement, and hesitation when navigating the wilds to be prime shortcomings.

Mental Trauma

Her first solo work with "wondrous" magic was the tuning and repair of portal-like devices that were meant to connect sectors of an entombed elven library. While her understanding of a portal's inner workings were more than adequate, her ability to manipulate magic of that magnitude was non existent. This led to a malfunction when her party found themselves under attack and needing to withdraw. She awoke to the tattered remains of her father's relic, and the visceral remains of her fellow aspiring Mavens. The conclusion of this journey is also what led to her separation from the lands of Evermeet. The chief of her fears is she may never return home to make amends or to see the rest of her family.

Intellectual Characteristics

Ikahri has a little trouble maintaining correct priorities while parsing through new information. While she isn't easily distracted from the task at hand, many would argue the results are teh same. Separately she is able to keep focus on a myriad of subjects and pieces of information at any given time and even continue multiple lines of communication simultaneously without losing track of said information.

Morality & Philosophy

The discoveries of mortal magic users are moderately overshadowed by their negligence in applying them. Far too often magic has been misunderstood and mishandled by those with talent at the expense of those that don't. Even when others aren't harmed many times the benefits aren't adequately shared. Where possible magic should be used to enhance the lives of your community and shared to those that can't make use of it for themselves rather than hoarding it.   -While she believes this strongly, both her failings and the failings of the memories she's experienced leave her apprehensive when voicing it aloud. Compounding this issue she has only recently had exposure to a society that includes a majority population that shows no magical talent whatsoever.

Taboos

Tyrannical use o fmagic especially against those that mean you no harm.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Her studies and efforts were all in service to Evermeet, its Queen and people, and to her Mother. While she has lost proximity to all of these things she hones her abilites in anticipation of the day she's ready to look for a way back, or grows powerful enough to make her own.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Magic, deciphering, and spell application. In her head lives more useless and esoteric knowledge than many other people have total knowledge at their disposal.   She is however, inept at most martial practices and physical feats in general. Without companions or her familiar she would surely fail to overcome most combat situations, and without magic her long term party contribution would be quite low.

Likes & Dislikes

She likes reading, warm beverages, and tinkering with wondrous items and magic concepts. Especially anything dragon or giant related. She harbors a great dislike of most Enchantment magic. She also dislikes lying and those who intentionally keep information from her.

Virtues & Personality perks

Ikahri well exemplifies a sense of reliability and sincerity. When learning a new skill or piece of information her goal is to become versed enough to guide others to the same place much faster. To that end she tends to treat herself and others in an honest or authentic manner. Just as consistently she shows affinity for patience, though not in any unique or divergent way compared to others of the elven species.

Vices & Personality flaws

Ikahri has a habit of recklessness in her actions even if it isn’t necessary. This is easy to fall into seeing as magic trivializes many moment to moment obstacles. She often gets strong, decisive results from these situations, and thus has a hard time identifying the behavior before consequences have reared. Eriyad'ne, despite being chaotic in nature, actually spends most of her time being Ikahri's voice of reason.   Additionally she has very little experience interacting with certain social norms in the authority systems of the wider world. She is still young and somewhat expects anyone in authority to be over qualified for their position. If you catch her off guard with your less than competent words or actions, a sharp tongue will swiftly follow even if the offending party didn't really earn it.

Personality Quirks

She has a habit of not looking others in the eye when speaking with them, being genuinely more intrigued by what the person surrounds themselves with rather than the person themselves. Her tendency to pause often between words stems from a behavior drilled into her to not give away more information than what was asked.

Hygiene

Good hygiene is a high priority for her. She regularly uses magic to maintain herself and looks for ways to apply "wondrous" magic to help with this end.

Social

Contacts & Relations

The majority of interactions are business related within Melg between the Library and the Mage Hall.

Family Ties

None accessible, though she has reason to believe some of her "siblings" might have set foot in this region once before.

Religious Views

Worships the Seldarine with particular worship offered towards Angharradh and beyond that Sehanine Moonbow for her continued guidance. In addition Eilistraee is given attention and admiration after receiving help from her followers on multiple occasions.

Social Aptitude

Her aptitude is less than ideal as everyone must be kept at a certain arms length lest they learn too much from her words. This is further worsened by most social encounters involving someone requiring her assistance on anything but what she's currently invested in.

Mannerisms

She has developed a habit of bowing one way or another when leaving an event or conversation. A habit she picked up during her travel to the eastern regions.

Hobbies & Pets

Reading. Attending to her familiar Eriyad'ne. She has kept a fairly large spider and a few nocturnal creatures in the past, but most people would not appreciate those types of creatures wandering throughout the city unattended.

Speech

She is well-expressed but tentative to avoid misspeaking. When speaking anything other than common or elven she tends to use archaic or formal language due to a lack of practical speaking partners. This leads to her coming off as a bit haughty to some and simply cloistered to others.

Wealth & Financial state

Her wealth is comparable to those that actively adventure or bounty hunt for a living if not slightly lower. Usually she has a few hundred gold without a plan on what to spend it on. Most of it is spent on item creation or wizarding expenses.

Aspiring Maven and arcane lorekeeper. Strives to ameliorate the access to knowledge and magic in the city of Melg.

Catch up Entry June 20th - September 12th

This journal entry is a catch up post.   -June 20th, 2020--Knowledge Relgion 25, n/a, n/a--Theories on the Spellplague: >The blue fire has no cause or known origin. It is eternally hungry and seeks to destroy >Isolated groups of Gnomes miscalculated their science experiments and caused a calamity >Gods as we know them don't exist. They are merely mortals dabbling in powers beyond mortal control. This tampering resulted in the Spellplague   A strange undead creature was brought back to the city for inspection. Substituting for another librarian, Ikahri was sent to inspect and document it. The undead was stitched together from various creatures. It's head consisted of: one elf ear, one human ear, a forked tongue, human teeth, and gouged eyes. It's reported while head was the most adapted part of the corpse it had other abilities including magical abilities such as Cold Touch, and a reaction causing it to explode on death. A Knowledge Arcana 15, n/a, 17 concluded the skin had been magically healed. Many of the undead seen have been of a similar crafted nature.   -July 18th, 2020--The first of the observed crafted undead began appearing 50 years ago. Since that point the attacks from undead have been getting not only worse, but more organized and precise. The undead problems seem increasingly dire the closer you get to the Empire.   -August 1st, 2020--In hopes of helping a new potential ally with a magical dilemma, Ikahri brushes up on information about white orcs and their region. The currently known white and albino orcs hail from Frostfang. This is only due to them being forced out of their northern homeland after losing several unknown territorial conflicts. They appear to be much smarter than more common orcs and have a reputation of being more capable. White orcs hold an alliance with the Auftauen Empire currently bolstering their front lines against the undead. Of note they normally don't care much about money or monetary compensation, but that sentiment has been changing recently.   On the region surrounding Frostfang, the snow no longer melts seasonally. It is becoming increasingly difficult to navigate without local assistance, usually through star navigation. The town of Glattties is your best hope to get the lay of the land. The northern tribes are slowly but surely tolerating magic.   -August 22th, 2020--Inspection of a slain undead (including Knowledge Religion 16, n/a, 17) revealed modified or adapted physical traits. This "runner" undead has a lower bone structure of something more akin to a horse or cattle than a humanoid. It's feet are also clawed similar to a quadruped predator. Not even 12 hours later another spliced undead appeared. It seems like a hairy spider hiding or morphed into an animal skull. It's ichor like poison saps strength through injuries.   -September 12th, 2020--Inspeciting the stitched undead revealed its innards are somewhat intact including its ligaments and even down to the sinew. The flesh still feels damp to the touch suggesting a continued blood flow or recent act of. No extreme modifications were done to this body such as predator claws, racial splicing, etc.   A strange scale like armor was found on the battlefield. Easily remembered these scales are home to the region surrounding the town of Glitzern Knowledge Nature 24, n/a, n/a. The scales used were not upsized, but rather from a large scaled creature before processing. Pressing the mind for information around Glitzern, a Knowledge History 19, 22, 25 seems to scrounge up memories of a conflict there. The Empire in its fight to claim Elven lands and push for their bronze wood resources resulted in a long struggle. Currently the land is in a stalemate of sorts, but the elves are seen less and less.
