The Lost Hero of Calimshan Part 1

We zoom in on Calimshan, the desert nation south of Tethyr and Ahm, where an excavation of an ancient pyramid is taking place. Several archeologists are conducting a survey and cataloguing various items found within the pyramid, making several startling discoveries. A squad of clerics are on standby, taking care of researchers who have been hurt by the pyramid's defenses. One researcher, Dr. Mesta, is currently cataloguing today's findings:
"The pyramid continues to be an chronological nightmare. Dating on the stones of the pyramid show that the thing is at least as old as Nethril, however the technology inside seems to be a more advanced version of what we have now, which has grown in a way outside of traditional Netherese magic. In fact the complete lack of magic while still being dangerous is one of the pyramid's most puzzling attributes. We continue to have to disable ancient NFT traps as we slowly make our way through the building, and we continue to uncover even stranger devices. Some sort of crystalline motion sensor that works entirely off of light rays, ropes transferring what appears to be electrical current to various devices within, powering golems that give off no magical signature. It's as if the place spits in the face of magic, mimicking effects that magic could produce, but by using entirely mechanical means. Recently we managed to get ahold of some sort of tablet. After Dr Esla had the genius idea to attach one of these ropes to the tablet, we discovered that it appears to be some sort of information storing device. Inside the device appears to be a record of some ancient hero, a 'Paisley Snyder' who claims to have come to our plane of existence after an accident on their home plane. They since settled down and made a life as an adventurer in Calimshan, trying to build a similar device that caused the accident to go back home. Apparently they asked several wizards to provide passage, but nobody had ever heard of this 'Ama-rica' place they came from. We just broke into the heart of the pyramid, and found some kind of ring like structure. if our hypothesis is correct, this is some sort of non-magical planeshifting device. The potential of this, and all of the strange technology within, could change the current face of the world. Current magic is balanced out by the fact that a sufficiently skilled wizard could take magic out of the equation, but technology like this could make that effect an even greater asset. We must hope that our finds do not proceed to fall into the wrong hands."
