Return of the Messiah
We open in Neverwinter, where a grassroots religious cult is beggining to reform after a long period of inactivity. Crudely scratched around in back alleys and seedy establishments are various ominous terms such as "He has arisen" and "The messiah has returned." In front of the non-denominational church of the city is a prophet standing on a soapbox crying out to evangelize the coming of an old, long forgotten messaiah. The churchman of the city want desperately to shut this prophet down, but the guards hold them at bay as the ruling that they had made long ago about prostelization regulations allow this speech to continue.
"Good people of Faerun, I bring you grand tidings! Long since thought dead, or lord and savior Nezare, son of Ourboros has returned to us to free the world from the shackles of Ao! Once thought dead at the hands of the cardinal sinner Dyogena and the lost empire of Bernancrantz, the seat of the rise of Ao's tyrany across the multiverse, he has been blessed and returned to us! Even now he walks amongst us, the adjuticator of good and evil! It was Ouroboros and her son that brought true meaning to this world. Ao may have set the terms, the hard laws and the underlying randomness, but only Ouroboros, sister to Ao, through her son could give meaning and direction. The physical world of Ao is a limiting structure, one that should be deposed as it only makes it more difficult for our souls to shine as they should. We must reach out and support Nezare, for the servents of Ao, his pawns and enslaved godly children will stop at nothing to squash him once again, for it is only Nezare, long since thought lost, who remains outside of the bonds that Ao has enslaved the planes with. Join us in our rebellion! Join us in our revolution! Free yourself from the lie that this world is set in stone! It is because of Ao that we are stuck in a constant cycle of advancement and regression!
It is his rules that have reduced Netheril to dust, because they came close enough of an understanding of the universe that they could free us from Ao's grip! That is why when Karsis's blow against Mystral was made, they unleashed the spellplague and the Ferum upon the land! And what was the result! 10,000 years of lost knowledge and potential, only now have we begun to claw our way back up to where we were before. And look! what happend immediately! A chaos god has been unleashed upon the land and is about to send us back again! The cycle must be stopped, and Nezare will show us the way! You will recognize him in his holy and unholy visage!
At this point minor illusion is used to summon Nezare's visage.
Once the image is cast, a cleric from the church yells "Heretic!!" and hits the preacher with a sacred flame, chaos erupting as a holy man has struck a blow against an unarmed preacher.
