16th of Nighthal 1,490 DR Part II
From a heavily encoded journal, the entry dated to the 16th of Nighthal.
Both Chrissa and Gwyn seemed upset with the article I’d published- Gwyn more vocally so. She came in late evening and was very frustrated with what she termed my “near-terminal lack of care for my own safety.” I asked what she’d have me do instead and she ranted (in an admittedly very controlled manner- she’s almost certainly a bard student of some sort) about using pen names or getting backup or at least alerting them what I’m planning to do.
…Some of her points were admittedly sound. Next time I’ll let Chrissa know I’m publishing a new article. She seems like a powerful wizard, but all casters run out of the strength to cast eventually.
Chrissa also expressed her quiet disapproval of the risk I’m taking without backup, though she seemed more understanding. She mentioned that while the story wasn’t hers to tell, Gwyn’s lost people close to her to violence and it’s made her a little more prone to worry. Though she did encourage me to “call Gwyn on her shit- she needs it sometimes.”
Gwyn spent the night and it was a charmingly domestic evening. Gwyn and Chrissa are most certainly partners of some sort. We all did a good job of setting aside the previous conversations and discussing lighter topics. Gwyn and I apparently have the same taste in theatre, while Chrissa and I share a love of drum-heavy music. We all had thoughts on the latest Muchanin novel.
It was a lovely night, similar to several I’ve spent with Chrissa at this point, but more delightful for the addition of Gwyn.
…I will miss these dinners when this is over and I move back to my apartment.
