Jezzk's Shard

The location of the head of the staff wielded by Jezzk the Insane is one of the greater mysteries of our time. For those unfamiliar with the incident -- Jezzk was a former Necromancer of the Enclave. What exactly caused his defection is unknown, but it is largely accepted that the daemons that he studied managed to corrupt him and drive him to madness. In 1100, his insanity became known to all when he unleashed a powerful curse upon the denizens of Ošgarde, killing dozens of Ošgardians and raising them again as demonically possessed vessels. Until the incident, there was almost no sign of madness. Jezzk had been, until that point, a well respected researcher of the Necromantic Enclave. His defection came as something of a rude awakening both to the Enclave and the Nurnen King, who had been relatively lax in their monitoring of the top tier Necromancers of the Enclave.   Jezzk's Shard -- the head of his staff at the time, was the main magical object used to create such a massive number of undead in such a short time. After Jezzk was slain by the Purgers and Nurnen troops, a search ensued for all of the artifacts that may have been tainted by him or his daemonic conspirators. However, the head of the staff was never found, and is still one of the most desired objects by the Crystal Palace. They fear that the Shard could fall into the hands of another capable and ill-willed magic user who could use it to cause chaos or even continue Jezzk's work.   In appearance, the shard appears as a green tetrahedral crystal with some sort of ethereal substance flowing inside of it. The few Necromancers who claimed to have seen it just before Jezzk's fall report a pulsating light emanating from it, and they also say a feeling of dread or wrongness accompanies it. It is no larger than an apple, and the staff that it originally resided in is still in the hands of the Crystal Palace, though it is only used as a final reference for any potential Shard brought before their counsel. If found by any of you reading this chronicle, know that it should not be touched, nor handled in any way without the presence of someone qualified to handle such a dangerous item -- usually a member of the Crystal Guard. The object is extremely dangerous, and any who should stumble upon it should spare no time in informing the Crystal Palace as they will happily reimburse you for any costs incurred by teleportation or modes of travel or communication.
