Sterling of the Blackthorn

Blade of the Eldregaard Steppes; Fane of the Fallen Dragon's Son

Sterling of the Blackthorn, and the rest of the Blackthorn clan, hails from a plain of ash and reeds, far the south the Dragondown Coast. In this youth, the elders of the Blackthorn clans were servants of a powerful spirit that feasted on the flesh of young warriors. Dissatasified with this fate - Sterling and several other Blackthorn Warriors split from the old tribe and traveled north. Only half of their numbers made it pass the caves that honeycombs across the southern Moutains. And they made an eve worst fate in the Dragondown Coast: Between raids from the Skarite Long Helmsmen, scavanger cartel plots, and roving hoards of monsters, the Blackthorn were whittled down to little more then a hundred women and men. That was until Sterling stumbled upon Palor Altor.
Originally, Palor Altor was populated by the Night Cloaks of Ioun, knowledge thieves and idolaters. A cult that routinely captured individuals from local tribes and urbane places to be given over to their idol. Sterling, without the remaining Blackthorne elder's blessings, took half of the Savage Coast warriors and ran the Night Cloaks of Ioun from Palor Altor. Easily slaying half their number in a single night, an event the locals call the Shadowfell Culling.
The sacrificals refugees believed the Savage Coast tribal was a sign from their ancestors, and despite being cast out of the Blackthorn tribe, Sterling was welcomed by the newly populated Palor Altor. Since, he has rules the city - with only a few challenging the Lord and his warriors.
In recent years, however, Sterling has fell ill. But not an illness of the body, instead one of the mind. His vision leaving him, his muscles weakening, and trouble with sensation and coordination. The Palor Altor healers could not cure him, so they reached out to the nomadic tribes and scavanger cartel's for aid...
