Phoenixes
It was a huge bird, unlike any I've ever seen. It feathers were black as coal with ash grey tips, and it gave off heat like a fire had recently died. I went to go get help and once I broke sight of it, a massive burst of fire came from where it laid. I ran for help. Once the fire was out, the bird I saw was gone, but nothing could've survived the fire I saw, the nearby trees and earth were like glass from the heat.
