Discoveries in Ubuild | World Anvil

Discoveries

UBuild is built on the idea that a kingdom can be formed to help progress the world through the different technological ages of the world. However, since the characters of the world can come from different technological ages, it makes sence that instead of researching ways to improve the world to where they are, that they instead unlock the technologies they know about to better improve the world.
Discoveries are divided into three different categories, however, each category may touch upon others. The three categories are Technology, Knowledge, and Culture.
Technology: The physical aspect of a kingdom, something that anyone can touch to experience. This deals with everything from blacksmithing to creating cyber weapons.
Knowledge: The non-physical aspect of a kingdom. Not only does it deal with all aspects of magic, and unlocking uncommon magics for anyone to use, but also for other mysterious uses of magic as well.
Culture: Unlike the other discoveries, this is more about the people within a kingdom. Universally, culture will deal with adding loyalty, additional actions a kingdom can take, and all starting traits of the kingdoms.

Automatic Assumptions

All kingdoms can have the following assumptions made of them:
  • The leadership of a kingdom all have basic writing, reading, and mathmatical skills
  • A kingdom has a steady source of information about other kingdoms and their actions, allowing them to understand when they are under attack, as well as a basic mail system, allowing people to get mail anywhere throughout a kingdom.
  • Leadership is protected by an armed guard. Settlements are protected by walls.
  • The people of a kingdom know how to make food and produce basic resources to contribute to the economy based on the land a kigndom owns.
  • A kingdom cannot build settlements in water or marshes.
  • A kingdom can maintain dirt based roads.
  • A kingdom has a populace that must be controlled in some fashion in order to perform to some sort of expectations
  • Anything not listed above that seems obvious for a kingdom is instead moderated by the people instead of the kingdom itself. When a discovery is taken that would overwrite that "obvious" act, then the kingdom is taking it under its wing to help promote it.
By default, a discovery will either improve these automatic expectations, or replace these assumptions. This will be detailed in the discovery itself.
