Humans were a mess at the beginning of the 21st century.
Pandemic, climate change and geopolitical issues (WW3) put stress on the inhabitants of Earth.
Scientists isolated a large pool of genetic material (people) apart from the community. (All were consenting. None were forced or cajoled in this experiment. Some left mid-program and weren't prejudiced against).
This group were called The "Seedlings" Project .
