Rheyir, the Destroyer

Destruction and Death

In the beginning, Aiatali breathed onto the world. From her breath sprang life, which called itself Ayun. From Ayun sprang Rheyir, for nothing can live which does not die, and nothing can be created which cannot be destroyed. Rheyir is fire and ash, destruction and decay. It is darkness. It is death.

For the Love of Life

Rheyir clung to Ayun, and Ayun to Rheyir. When they could not find peace without the interferance of Aiatali, they ran away together to make their own life, but Aiatali was a jealous mother, and she would not leave them to themselves. Aiatali stole Ayun from Rheyir, and when Rheyir fought back, she banished him to the bowls of the earth. Rheyir would not be still, and so Aiatali threw Ayun to the heavens, to keep them apart, and when still Rheyir fought to be with Ayun, she commanded Uas to smother the earth, so that Rheyir could never escape.

Yar and Solm

The people of Urkuma worship Uas. Offerings and sacrifices are made at Yar, the highest tide of the year, and Solm, the lowest tide, to thank Uas for keeping Rheyir beneath the earth, and to ask that the battle continue, lest Rheyir break forth and destroy the world.   See also: Aiatali, Mother of the World, Ayun, God of Life, Uas, God of the Seas, Urkuma
