A Centaur's life is of constant movement, for if you ever rest for a little bit, you'll be eaten up by something larger. Known for their hit and run tactics, the Centaurs are great warriors, for either the blade or the bow. Their lifestyle consisted of marauding anything that moved within their territory, however they have started to settle down a little more regularly with their last war. They are a rare site to see outside of their homeland, however with their subjugation into service, they are becoming more commonplace within the alliance.
History
Native to Tyrae, the centaurs are a nomadic people, who at most, barely even build wooded forts to protect themselves. Most move their villages on the open plain that they are native to. After the short war that they waged with the Human-Elf Alliance, their nation was sworn in as a vassal. After years, they have come to become great allies with their would-be conquerors. They continue to live their nomadic life, with those that grow up to join the military to serve for years before returning to their initial family.
Culture
Known for their nomadic lifestyle, the Centaurs' life is to travel. Many group into clans that form villages. They tend not to farm, unless if they settled within a region, and live a very socialistic life. One must contribute to get anything from the clan. Centaur are known to wage war on each other due to disputes, but most of these disputes are settled with a tournament or a game of some sort instead of bloodshed. However, when push comes to shove, they attack with the ferocity of the entire tribe. There isn't really a form of government, but all major clans know about their alliance to the humans and elves. Most tribes, if you are on their land, will openly attack you unless if you bear a mark of some kind to let them know you are friendly to them.
Physical Description
A Centaur looks like a human from the waist up. However, from the waist down, they have the body of a horse. They have four hoofed legs and usually a tail that shares the same color as their hair color, with the their fur on the horse part usually being a different color. Their fur can range from a wide range of textures, including just plain, stripes, spotted, and along with other types. Since most of the time Centaurs like to be outside, they tend to have tan skin.
Centaur Names
Centaurs’ given names are passed down through family lines. The name bestowed on a new foal is typically the name of the most recently deceased family member of the same gender, keeping alive the memory — and, the centaurs believe, some shard of the spirit — of the departed. Centaurs don’t use family names, but they wear symbols that represent their family membership. These symbols might include graphical representations of plants or animals, printed mottoes, braids and beads worn in the hair and tail, or even specific patterns of woven fabric.
