Dornam

Lifeater Dornam

Machiavellian Horror

Dornam is one of the Primordial deities, the Anfangsir, and one of the Lakkunvasir, the gods of Lakø. He draws power from the consumption of energy and material, a natural balance to the creations of the Gennunvasir.

Creation of the Multiverse

Nothing is known of the multiverse before the Anfangsir, or if there was one at all. What is known is that, as far back as is known by even the oldest gods, there were two planes at the Beginning. Dornam was one of two that inhabited Lakø, with the other being Iberren, and the two planes came into no contact with each other, nor did they know of the other planes' existence.

As the young gods expanded their powers and tested the limits of their planes, the planes began to touch and a war began for control of the multiverse.

Creation of the Planes

The initial clashes of the gods created the planes Stürt and Modspel, known as the planes of spirit or the Åndsplanean, which served as both barriers and battlefields between the two original realms. On these planes much of the harshest battle was done, and the limits of the immortality of the gods was tested. In one particular battle, Dornam fell and the force of that fall split Mitvort and Baladen from the Åndsplane, already having been the most ruined of the battlefields.

Resurrection

The creation of the Sortplanean, the material planes, ended up feeding the power of Dornam, which had previously been scattered to the winds of time when he had fallen in battle. As the Gennunvasir pushed the now singular god of the Lakø to occupying that plane alone, and spread their influence across the realms, Dornam reformed, his essence being preserved in the energy of the creation of Sortplanean. The material plane was more effective, built Dornam's power more effectively than the planes before, so when Dornam returned, he was significantly more formidable.

The Great Cataclysm and the Age of Mortals

The Great Cataclysm gave rise to the age of mortals, and was a result of Dornam's new form. The great power contained within it allowed him to launch an assault that nearly destroyed the entirety of the contemporary Gennunvasir, though they barely survived, and in the process, Dornam split the realms from each other, with the greatest separation around Lakø. The result of this split is the lack of influence of Lakø on the other realms, most especially the Sortplanean. In this power vacuum, the Gennunvasir created mortals after a few centuries, after a petition by Dornam, one of the Ferskvasir, or New Gods.

Over the past three millenia, after the creation of mortals, Dornam began building up power, picking at cracks in the walls between the planes that one day he might escape Lakø and wreak havoc upon the mortal realms. There have been scant times in history when Dornam's voice is thought to have escaped from the depths and through the intraplanar membrane to influence mortals to do his own bidding.

Monstrous Associations

Vampiric creatures sapient or savage are generally considered to be related in some way to Dornam. The Inverani believe they are Dornam's direct response to the creation of mortals and Herskovites believe they are a remnant of Dornam's presence in the plane corrupting certain creatures. Aitilafa holds many opinions, but a small majority seems to agree that lifestealers are to mortals as Dornam is to Vayren, a dark product of the existence of energy. Azendelians seem to have buried the cultural memory of such creatures, but if pressed often agree with Herskovites. The Elves of T'hërquell believe that those who crave power with darkness in their heart will be touched by the vestiges of Dornam's power and bear vampiric creatures.

Despite the many superstitions, the etiology of the vampiric species is unknown as is the reality of their connection to Dornam.

Motivation

Dornam seeks ultimate power over the multiverse. His unique ability to gain power directly from destruction of energy and material set him up to be a tyrant over emptiness, yet he vies anyways.

Vices & Personality flaws

Dornam will do literally anything to increase his power, though he is not necessarily interested exclusively in the short-term. He will lie, cheat and steal, or wait for the perfect moment to backstab an ally if it would mean a greater gain for him.
