Cynas
Duinesbane
Aligned Against Mortals
Cynas has come to represent the wild, uncontrollable and dangerous part of both humanity and magic, though his inception was starkly different, born of pain and loss.
Early Life
Birth
Cynas was born of Elsha during the Greaty Dying of Baladen out of the suffering of the young god, and his coming is thought to be the event that precipitated the end of the Great Dying.
Dormancy and Return
Cynas laid dorman for several centuries after the Great Dying, unneeded by Elsha or the forests of Baladen. During this time, Cynas became crueller than he was born, a hatred of his mother, the Wildmother, brewing in him for his time of liminality. It is thought that this time is the cause of Cynas' return.
Cynas returned on the eve of mortals' organization into societies, when the rate of dying lowered and fights decreased between those of the same clan or tribe. The despite for Elsha being funnelled into a hatred of mortals instead, as the instinct to protect nature and the necessity of death crashed back into him.
Cynas in mortals
The Cynicists advocate a self-induced seclusion from the benefits of society, living like beasts wherever they are, which results in significant clashes with the governing body in their area as they directly disrupt the peace. There was, for a time, a cult named the Scion of the Wilds which followed largely in the footsteps of a man named Anfrid Tadorus, the author of the Cynic Scripts.
Under the leadership of Tadorus, the group gained enough influence to create their own land claim, from there amassing an army with which to conquer the mortal realm and scatter the influence of society to the wind. Through the combined efforts of Herske, Inverus and Aitilafa, the Scion of the Wilds was defeated, though the power of magic they had on their side was simply incomparable and the three nations incurred immense losses during their many battles with the Cynicists.

Divine Goals & Aspirations
Cynas is known to desire the fragmentation of society, viewing the presence of social organization at the level of humans to be unnatural. His goal is to reduce humanity to its Original State, afraid of the beasts that lurk in the shadows, in balance with those what would predate them.
Social
Mannerisms
1: The broken scythe was already a symbol of Cynas, and the Coilleskog itself remains unclaimed by Cynas or his followers. As a result, some religious scholars have speculated that the broken scythe was incidental, perhaps having been there at the inception of the Coilleskog.
2: These texts were not produced directly by Cynas, but by Anfrid Tadorus, who claimed to be writing Cynas' word as law. No other Cynicists have reported access to Cynas, nor has Cynas given any direct indication for endorsement of the works.
3: The Coilleskog, due to its destructive impacts on the nations and organizations around it, is currently thought to be a creation of Cynas, but it is unknown whether he truly created or rules over it.
