Matilda Caldwell
Squire
This young Death Knight recruit has just completed her first years of training with Master Anselm Alston, and has been accepted into the Eternal Order. To complete her training, she is now required to serve as a squire to a more senior knight, learning everything she can before she is accepted as a full member.
As a child, Matilda was rescued from the dungeons of a powerful necromancer by Pax Ilvani and Jocelyn Cresthand, Death Knights of the Eternal Order. In return, she had vowed to her parents to serve the Church of Kelemvor to the end of her life.
After a heated arguement with her father about her future at age 16, she ran away from the safety of her noble upbringing in Baldur's Gate and turned up at the gates of Soul's Rest. With her face scarred from the rough training regime, the ambitious marriage plans of her father would surely be futile at this point.
Her squire assignment reunites her with the half-elf Death Knight Commander Pax Ilvani.
As a squire, Matilda is required to see to her knight's horse, arms and armour, as well as writing letters, buying supplies and any other day-to-day tasks that may be required on the road.
The life of a squire is not an easy one.
